BULMER, Susan Catherine (nee Dougall) After a graceful and courageous journey with ovarian cancer, Susan passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 29th, surrounded by family. Born in Calgary on June 24, 1952, Susan excelled in her schooling and attained her BA and Law degrees from the University of Alberta. Susan practiced law from 1975 - 1997 and spent most of her time in private practice and as a consultant to not-for-profit organizations. This was eventually superseded by her passion and love for sport, sport administration and community volunteerism. During her twelve years in Executive Director roles for two Provincial Sport Associations, Susan was a voice for sport with the Edmonton Sport Council, Albert Sport Recreation Parks and Wildlife Foundation, 2005 World Masters Games Steering, Sport and Venue Committees, and held distinguished planning roles with these and numerous other municipal and provincial organizations. Her greatest joy came from nurturing her family to thrive and grow. Sue's selfless devotion to and belief in her children, perpetual optimism and unwavering faith made her the light in our family. Her dedication to family and her many and varied accomplishments were the delight of her husband. Predeceased by her parents, Tom and Doris Dougall, Susan is survived by Derek, her devoted husband of 34 years; daughter and son-in-law, Eryn and Neil Barrett; a son and daughter-in-law, Matthew and Monique Bulmer; a daughter, Christin Bulmer; and four grandchildren, Connor and Ava Barrett, and Nathaniel and Zachary Bulmer. She is also survived by a brother and sister-in-law, Tom and Linda Dougall of Calgary; as well as extended family. Funeral services will be held at Howard & McBride Chapel of Chimes (10179 - 108 Street) on Thursday, September 10th, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. To email expressions of sympathy: www.chapelofchimes.com If friends so desire, memorial tributes can be made online to the Ovarian Cancer Society Winners Walk of Hope, "Team Suzie", at www.winnerswalkofhope.ca or sent to 101-145 Front Street East, Toronto ON, M5A 1E3 (Telephone 1-877-413-7970). The family would like to thank Dr. Alexandra Shepansky, her colleagues, the nurses and staff at the Cross Cancer Institute, Dr. Ken Stewart, Dr. Roy Gritter, and Penny Shmanka and her palliative care team, for their care and support during Sue's illness. Fait des beaux reves, Beautiful Lady. You are home. Howard & McBride "Chapel of Chimes" Funeral Home, Crematorium & Reception Centre, 10179 - 108 Street. Tel: 780-422-1141
